The site for baileygallery.com will be an extension in the web of the gallery’s personality in the real world. It’s style will be refined, ellegent, and warm, but also fun, creative and interesting and unique among gallery websites in chealsea. It will be a central part of the gallery’s identity and marketing strategy, getting people excited about the gallery and the work being shown there and driving traffic to the physical gallery. The Gallery will show contemporary work by emerging artists with a focus on work that is visually refined and sophisticated and warm, rather than ironic, slick, or cynical, The gallery will also secondary market work and the site will have information about this work as well and this grounding in history will be another important aspect of the gallery’s personality.
The web site will be coded according to current best practices- using CSS for style and a combination of table-and CSS layout. The site will be coded primarily for ie 5 and above and navigator 6 and above . People with 4.0 browsers (this represents a very small percentage of web users and getting smaller all the time) will be able to read the information in the site but will not be able to see the complete layout.
